ABOUT

This ten day trip will take you around three adjacent countries, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro.

Your tour would start in Split, Croatia, moving south (hence the name “Southern Pearls”) over the island of Hvar and Mostar in Bosnia & Herzegovina to end up in Montenegro. You will explore beautiful historical heritage and natural landmarks of cities and places included in this trip, hang around with local people, taste some delicious authentic food products and discover the hidden beauties of Adriatic coastline.

Relatively small distance between all the locations make this tour perfect for experiencing quite a few different places and areas in little time, since you wouldn’t spend too much time in the car.

Day 1 / Arrival in Split

Welcome to Croatia! You will arrive at Split Airport, meet your private driver and head off towards your accommodation. There are no additional plans for the rest of the day, but we suggest going for an evening walk and dinner downtown.

Day 2 / Meet Split

Day two starts with a private walking tour of the old town of Split. You’ll explore the very core of Split with a knowledgeable local guide, learn about its 1700-years-long history and admire the UNSECO-protected architectural sites both inside and outside of Diocletian’s Palace, such as the main promenade, the Republic square or the most distinguishing site that is Saint Domnius Cathedral with its bell tower.

Until evening, you have free time to spend at your own pace; continue exploring the old town, pick a restaurant based on our recommendations or move to the beach to relax a little.

Tonight’s dinner takes place at a special location on top of the hill, in a traditional family run tavern with panoramic views over Split, nearby islands and the Adriatic.

Day 3 / To the Island of Hvar

You will take a morning catamaran ride from Split to Hvar. After reaching your accommodation there, you have entire day to spend at your own pace.

Hvar, or as the locals call it – The Queen of the Dalmatian Islands is an island bathed by sun the most in entire Croatia, surrounded by clearest waters of the Adriatic sea. The old town of Hvar boasts with traditional stone houses, cultural landmarks and narrow streets and alleys. You can consider our suggestions for a good restaurant, find an intimate spot for a swim or sip a few cocktails by the sea – the choices are many in this exciting town!

Day 4 / Sunny Hvar by Sea & Land

After breakfast, you will meet your boat skipper in the port and get on board your speedboat to navigate around a group of smaller remote islands just south of Hvar town, locally called Hell’s Islands (Paklinski Otoci). These emerald jewels offer a perfect getaway from the crowds for the crystal-clear turquoise waters, intimate beaches and coves and amazing lounging & dining options.

When you are back in Hvar town later in the afternoon, get changed and take on a private tour of entire Hvar island and see the highlights of this amazing island: Spanjola fortress overlooking Hvar port, stunning lavender fields and UNESCO-protected plains, the first settlement on entire island called Stari Grad (Old Town) and the fisherman village of Vrboska, or as the locals call it – Little Venice.

You will finish this amazing day off with a sunset dinner at a family-run farm and taste authentic and organic Dalmatian recipes of fish and meat dishes accompanied by a few different local wines.

Day 5 / Towards Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina

Start your journey towards Mostar in Bosnia & Herzegovina! After a morning catamaran from Hvar to Split and crossing the border to Bosnia & Herzegovina by a car, you will make a stop at Kravice Waterfalls – a beautiful oasis in the stone with about twenty waterfalls forming an amphitheatre lake below them.

When you’ve finally arrived in Mostar, you will have a traditional Bosnian lunch with a distinctive dessert called ‘Baklava’.

After the lunch has settled, you will meet your walking guide and explore this small yet intriguing historical old town dating from the times of Turkish Ottoman empire, known for its magnificent Old Bridge going across emerald green Neretva River.
You are free to spend the rest of the day at your own pace. Overnight in Mostar.

Day 6 / Towards Dubrovnik

You will head off towards Dubrovnik in the morning, making your first stop on the banks of Neretva river to visit Počitelj, a charming stone city built on tall and steep cliffs by Bosnian king some 600 years ago as a strategic getaway, dominating over the river.

As you enter Croatia, you will drive through the Neretva river valley called the Valley of Life and make a stop for sightseeing and fresh fruit shopping. Next stop is picturesque medieval village of Ston – located within the longest defensive walls in Europe, on Peljesac peninsula. The town has been of enormous value for Dubrovnik republic for its natural salt production fields, and is also known for its delicious fresh oysters, seafood and local wines from Peljesac. Your included lunch is arranged at a serene seaside restaurant in Ston with an optional oyster tasting.
Arrival in Dubrovnik is followed by a free evening. Overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 7 / Meet the Pearl

After breakfast, meet your local guide and admire 1500 years of history that the Old Town of Dubrovnik has behind it. You will explore The Pearl of the Adriatic, wrapped up by tall medieval walls and forts, intertwined with narrow marble streets. See some of the Croatia’s most famous landmarks such as Stradun street, magnificent city gates and historical old port.

Spend the rest of the day at your leisure; maybe by moving to a quieter part of the city where you can find a good seafront restaurant or spend some time lounging at the beach.

Before the sunset, you will get back to the old town and take a cable car towards the top of Mount Srđ. Apart from admiring a beautiful panoramic scene of Dubrovnik and the Adriatic sea, you can even enjoy an amazing seafood dinner there.

Day 8 / Towards Budva, Montenegro

Continue your journey and drive out towards Montenegro coast, seeing two towns on your way in magical Boka Kotorska, a lake-reminiscing bay surrounded by tall mountains rising steeply from the shores.

First stop is an idyllic town of Perast, a city of nobles made almost entirely out of stone. You will even take a short boat ride to Ostrvo, a monumental islet in the middle of the bay. Before moving on, you will enjoy a nice lunch meal in serene restaurant set in the old mills, just next to the mouth of a small river Ljuta. Your next stop in Kotor includes a local guide who will show you around this historical medieval city set strategically in a corner of the bay, surrounded by tall walls that envelop a maze of distinguishing alleys and squares.
Arrive in Budva later and enjoy your free evening. Overnight in Budva.

Day 9 / Budva

Spend the entire day in Budva at your own pace! Budva is one of the most popular destinations on the Adriatic, stretched along the five-kilometer-long coastline, known for its charming old town, string of long beaches and numerous contemporary hotels architecture. As a coastal city, it boasts with delicious restaurants all along the coast, most of which offer amazing seaside ambient and serenity.

Day 10 / Towards Dubrovnik for Departure

Drive away from Budva on time and head off towards Dubrovnik for your departure flight. Have a safe trip back home!
